Sabrina Carpenter’s New Music Video: The Middle Of Starting Over

Although I think all of Sabrina’s videos kinda look alike (she only has two, I could give her a break) they are always so cute and fun you just can’t help but watch them over again at least 10 times… If not more!

I love the choice of song for Sabrina’s second single, its carefree and it really does show off that beautiful voice of hers!

Here’s the real deal though, this time I have even more of an emotional attachment to the video; Not only was it produced by a group of Canadians that I love called The Young Astronauts but JP Dube a Montreal (thats where Im from) native guy is also one of the dancers alongside Sabrina. CANADIAN PRIDE!! I also want to take a few seconds of your precious reading time to congratulate my friends from The Young Astros for their brand new moon man for the video they produced for Ariana Grande’s hit single Problem!!!!

Take a look at it and tell me what you think,

New Found Love – Scott Helman

I stumbled across an acoustic video from Scott Helman yesterday on Facebook and as soon as the music started and he started singing I regretted pressing play… I just knew I would have to look up every other songs that he had ever put up on youtube.

Scott is from Toronto/Canada and, according to his website, artists such as Nirvana, Ray LaMontagne, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan and Keaton Henson inspire him! It was actually after listening to The Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd that Scott realized that he “wanted to spend the rest of his life trying to make something half as good as this.”

His voice sounds amazing & his lyrics are well thought out and mature; his music is simply delightful! With some hints of rock, a little bit of soul and just a tinny bit of pop, I think everyone can find something to like about Scott. Don’t be fouled by his young looks, his music suits a ton of different audiences!

I spent the night listening to his music and I already have favourites. I fell in love with his Riptide by Vance Joy cover and an original song by him called Cry Cry Cry! And just when you think things about Scott can’t get better, when you sign up to his mailing list on his website you can 3 free songs including Cry Cry Cry.

If you’re from the Toronto area and you’re 19 or older, make sure you go check out Scott’s concert at the Cameron House! For more details, check out his website, his twitter or his Facebook page!

I hope you’ll love his music as much as I do!
I can’t wait for Scott to come do a concert in Montreal,

The New Cody Simpson – Montreal Concert

Meet the new Cody Simpson, a grown up, more mature and even more talented young man as the one you already knew. The 17 year old singer/song-writer reinvented himself and it worked. The young man I saw performing live at the Montreal Metropolis a few days ago was grown up, more mature and even more talented than the one I had seen just 6 months ago on his acoustic tour.

Cody Still sang a few of his old songs but he changed them, he made them sound more mature and it felt like they represented him a little more. Frankly, I think they sound much better now! He also covered great songs from artists such as Elvis & Justin Timberlake… He really knows how to reach out to all kinds of audiences, the parents in the room were having as much fun as their kids!

Cody really did reinvent himself for the better. I’ve always been a big fan of his because he has always been a very talented and down to heart man but this finally feels like the real Cody. It’s like he finally found the real him. To be completely honest, I think he always knew that was the sound he wanted to be affiliated with but that he finally just had the courage to fully come out with it. Nothing felt out of place or a little uncomfortable for Cody. It wasn’t too pop-ish and the blues vibes Cody integrated to his set really did put everything together perfectly. It felt right and I think Cody definitely should keep growing into more of a blues man. What he is bringing to the music industry as a 17 years old is unseen, he is talented, passionate and I think he can only keep growing into the man he really wants to be. This new side of him is going to attract a lot more older fans and I hope that then he will finally get the recognition he deserves! This is him; it feels real, it sounds great, its perfect! Now, the only thing that scares me is if the fans are going to mature alongside him…

Unfortunately, I think the fans in Montreal didn’t evolve as Cody did. While he was on stage telling everyone how he had changed and how he wanted to show the fans a new and more mature side of him and his music the fans were screaming endlessly. Don’t get me wrong, concerts are always loud in Montreal and its fine but I think it would only have been respectful and normal to listen to what Cody was putting on the table that night. His old songs now sound more bluesy and the new ones are much more mature and down to earth and I would’ve loved to get the chance to give those pieces a good listen. I personally think Montreal was and will always be too loud for the new vibes Cody is coming up with. He was showing talent and emotions but unfortunately Montreal was taking over him and, as beautiful as a crowd sounds when they are singing along to a song, you couldn’t hear Cody and the modifications he did to his old songs. Cody’s new music needs to be enjoyed and I couldn’t enjoy it to the fullest while the fans were going crazy like that. Maybe they didn’t mature fast enough for Cody but I hope they realize that and try to ”sit back, relax” next time he comes to town…

As of me, I will definitely jump in my car and drive to the United States to catch Cody in concert there and try to really enjoy the music. The fans shouldn’t take this personally but from my previous experiences concerts over there aren’t as loud as in Canada… (Bring on the competition guys)

Give the new Cody Simpson a try and buy some tickets for one (or more) of his upcoming shows and go buy the new songs he will be putting out soon. The vibe Cody is bring to teenage music right now is new and I really hope people will love it and give it a chance. I can’t wait to see where his hard work and new vibes will bring him in the future. This is only the beginning, he can only go up from here. I am positive that in a few years Cody will be playing much bigger venues and I will be there, first row, singing along to all of his songs!

It’s just him, his guitar, his band & chill vibes. Check it out!

Single Review: “You Said”

Originally posted on Music Creates Us:

EVVY is a new indie pop artist on the scene, emerging from the excitement of New York City.  On August 19th, EVVY debuted a brand new, self-titled EP, featuring the single, “You Said.”  The EP features seven original songs from the aspiring singer/songwriter, but “You Said” has been quoted as one of EVVY’s personal favorites.

The song has hints of a more modern day Enya, with EVVY’s voice being soft, sweet, and haunting all at the same time.  Her vocals have definite merit, with an impeccable range into the higher octaves.  The beat is slow and moving, creating a pulsing sensation that easily pulls you through the song.

EVVY fits perfectly into the indie pop genre.  With “You Said,” she has certainly chosen a hit to highlight.  It would be no surprise if she ends up featured on the next big Young Adult film soundtrack.  Her eerie and alluring sound lines…

Watch: Eminem Rings In Historic Wembley Show By Performing with Dr. Dre

Originally posted on WZMX Hot 93.7:

It was going to be a history-making show from the second it was scheduled, as Eminem’s July 11 show at Wembley Stadium was the first time ever that a rapper headlined the historic venue. Whatever the reason, a new precedent was set but that alone was not enough to impress the London Stans who had not seen Eminem perform in their city since 2001. And so, Eminem brought out his longtime producer Dr. Dre to perform a song.

It’s not the first time the husband and wife have paired up, and it’s also not hard to see why they continue to record together as the strength of their collaborations lie in the emotional richness and finely tuned harmonies that, more often than not, only artists with deep relationship connections can truly explore and convey.

This whiling and reflective country ballad is no different, with McGraw and Hill giving yet another intimate and tender, yet not exploitative, performance that is equally captured in the song’s video clip which premiered on VEVO earlier…
